The Redford Commission on Youth and Families is proud to offer a series of impactful seminars designed to educate, empower, and inspire both students and adults. These programs go beyond the classroom to provide real-world insight and guidance on some of today’s most pressing issues. Through engaging, hands-on experiences, participants gain valuable knowledge and tools to become more informed, responsible, and proactive members of their communities.
One of the flagship programs is the “Day of Leadership,” which focuses on helping students discover their leadership potential. Participants explore what it means to be a leader in today’s world through group activities, discussions, and presentations by seasoned professionals. Police officers, business leaders, and educators volunteer their time to share personal stories and strategies for building confidence, making ethical decisions, and inspiring others. This day leaves students feeling empowered and ready to lead in their schools and communities.
Another vital seminar is “Human Trafficking Awareness,” where students and adults learn how to recognize signs that someone may be in danger. The program provides actionable steps on how to safely respond and report concerns. Law enforcement officers, victim advocates, and survivors speak candidly about the realities of trafficking, giving attendees both knowledge and empathy. This seminar is an eye-opening experience that arms participants with the information they need to be vigilant and supportive allies in the fight against human exploitation.
Redford Commission on Youth and Families also hosts “Law Day,” an immersive experience where students are taken to the state capital to learn how the legal system works firsthand. They meet with judges, attorneys, and lawmakers who volunteer their time to answer questions and explain how laws are made and enforced. Students tour courtrooms, observe proceedings, and even engage in mock trials, making the experience both educational and memorable. These seminars reflect the RYF Foundation’s commitment to creating informed citizens and future leaders through meaningful, real-life learning experiences.
